If you can’t think of a theme but love a particular film, era, or hobby that connects you both, this is your opportunity to make unique photographs that may earn you bragging rights and memories to share with your children in the future. The images always tell a story and you can create a very unique and fun story to tell!

9. Location: Whether you like the idea of having a thematic session or not, the choice of your location is important. It is ideal that you choose your own place depending on where you like to spend time together, as this will reflect more the essence which evokes special moments and memories; the place where you first met, or where the proposal was made! This will help to create images that are important to you in many ways. However, if you do not have a favorite place, we can help you choose one from among the many options that may surround you.

8. The Date: Ideally couples plan their engagement session from 6 to 12 months before the wedding so they may use the images for different purposes, (i.e., "Save the date” cards), because they wish their shoot to take place at a particular season during the year, or because it flows well with their wedding theme. If this is not an option, you can choose your session up to a month before your wedding.

7. Time of Day: If your session will take place outdoors, my recommendation is to have the shoot at certain times of the day where the sunlight is ideal, as is sunrise or sunset. If you prefer not get up early, we can schedule the shoot 1 to 2 hours before sunset. This will give us warm and soft lighting. To check the time that the sun will rise and set at a specific time of the year, be sure to check the calendar sunrisesunset.com. However, if you are a couple who enjoys the nightlife and want to have an urban setting, we are delighted to accommodate you.

6. Attire: If your session is thematic, your attire will depend on the particular theme. Otherwise, you can select clothing that complements the environment and that you will feel comfortable wearing! Seek to complement each other or coordinate colors. There are many style guides on hand in the internet where you can get ideas from, but pay close attention to avoid bold patterns or logos, as they tend to stand out too much and divert the attention away from the protagonists… You! Of course you can bring several outfits to to display the casual and elegant versions of your love! In addition, bring shoes that complement your outfits and an extra pair of comfortable ones to use between takes, because depending on the theme or area where the session takes place, high-heeled shoes can be a challenge to walk in.

5. Accessories and Props: AND even your pets! This makes your meeting unique and personal and says a lot about you. Obviously, they will not be used in all the photos but they are certainly a great resource to customize some of your pictures with those special details. And please do not forget to send me an email with a list of what you will bring a few days prior to the session, so that I can come with ideas!

4. Markeup and Nails: Many brides opt for doing their own makeup which is great! For those that prefer to go natural, we suggest that you apply a little makeup so that camera may capture the “natural” image. Ideally, we recommend using a professional makeup artist if it is within your budget. Take advantage of this opportunity to test the makeup that you will wear on your wedding day! So you can see how you will look in the pictures that will become your treasured memories. And of course, don’t forget to get a manicure (pedicure optional if wearing sandals), for the photos where we will highlight your engagement ring!

3. Chaperone: Some couples like to invite someone close to them to accompany them on their photo shoot, which is an excellent idea, especially if you are bringing props or changes of clothing. While you are posing for photos and I am taking your pictures, they can hold your personal belongings, purses, keys, care for your pets, or assist you in changing your clothes.

2. Rehearse Find a time before the session to discuss, plan and practice what you would like to do during your engagement session.
